Intertwining Thoughts

  • Nestaron couldn’t help but think about the roads he had traveled, the rivers he had fjorded and the snow he had traversed. His thoughts focused both on the moment and on memories of his past.

Here he sat next to Anna in a room above the Silvermoon City Inn. They played a game of questions and answers, of revealing truths. It was a way for Nes to get to know her better; Somehow he had the nagging feeling that he was missing pieces of who she was and where she wanted to go. He didn’t quite understand why the nagging feeling had hit him but it was there nonetheless. Although they had spent a half-dozen nights together, he didn’t really know her very well, a huge chunk of missing pieces to her puzzle.

Such thoughts hearkened back to previous encounters. He had done much the same with Kay in much the same manner: speaking of dreams, aspirations, paths taken, journeys followed. He had tried and failed to truly become a friend to Kay before he let his emotions take over and he feared that much the same was happening now with Anna. He had caught himself once with Anna and pulled away a bit in an effort to pace himself, to know her for who she truly is, but it seemed he jumped back in, too quickly. He wanted to try and rectify the situation, showing good faith in wanting to make the relationship work.

Unfortunately, they didn’t get much time to converse before Lady Anna started to fall asleep; Nes was quite used to being awake late at night and often stayed up to the early hours in the morning, so he was used to it. As she fell asleep, she asked Nes to hold her as she slept, to which Nes happily obliged. Without realizing it, Nes fell asleep with Anna in his arms, unable to keep his own eyes open. He was weighed down by his own troubles, his own fears, so sleep came swiftly.

He awoke in the afternoon feeling a bit refreshed, happy for the sleep that had come. It had been days since he got a good night’s sleep; most nights mixed with intense dreams that he couldn’t remember. Anna had already left for home when he awoke since she did have her studies to tend to.  Nes gathered his belongings and set off for the Manor, ready for another day with many things to do.

A couple hours passed in a blur, one minute bled into another. The refreshed feeling at the beginning of the afternoon started to crack. Started to fray. Started to break under a tremendous weight. The balance once easily maintained was starting to break down. All of his emotions started to fire at him in rapid succession, he tried his best to filter them, control them, but his energy wasn’t ready for it.

His thoughts returned to his relationship with Anna, his doubts magnified ten-fold.

His friends had warned him of this, of moving too swiftly and he quickly assured each of them that he was taking his time. The plain truth was that he had fallen into the same trap three times now, maybe even four. He had used words of placation instead of truly listening to what they had to say, he was ashamed of himself for doing so.

It was in this that he realized something, "I see that look in her eyes, the look upon her face, the words and feelings mulling in her head. I can't help but remember when I felt and acted in the same manner. While I enjoy the rush of feelings, I don't wish to repeat past mistakes, aggravate old wounds and rush to judgement."

Nes’ mind abruptly moved to an anger that overwhelmed everything else.

    Kaze.

No images passed through his mind, no memories, only red eyes and a lance.

He couldn’t get anything done this way, not in this state. He had to leave, he had to get away, off to the only place that he could sort this out, Mulgore; away from the cities and away from the crowd.

He took a vial from his satchel and drank a drop of it; As the drop traveled down his throat, a transformation began, bringing him from his Sin’dorei form into a dragon form. Once the transformation was done, Nes roared out loudly and began to flap his dragon wings, pushing wind between him and the ground. As the wings flapped rapidly, Nes ascended into the sky and propeled himself across the ocean and toward Kalimdor... Mulgore and his destination.
