Dear Journal,
Yesterday, I asked archmage Hadson out for lunch. Or dinner. Or just plain tea - with scones. Sadly, he turned me down, gently, if I may add. I'm quite certain he had no idea what I'd want to talk to him about when I asked for a moment of his time... I hope he won't blame me for trying.
So, why did I ask a man, nearly twice my age, for a lunch? I've known archmage Hadson for a long time, though our relationship has been more of a distant friendship. I've always had a great deal of respect and admiration for the man, and honestly, I don't care about his age. He seems like a decent, intelligent and reasonable man with a good deal of authority. He's... safe. Comfortable. He's not overly emotional... erm... well I guess it'd be best to say that he doesn't generally show much emotion at all, but somehow I find this comforting.
It's a shame that he turned me down, but I guess I saw that coming. After all, what could I possibly have to offer to a man like him? I would've wished to get to know him better, however. I'm sure he would have many interesting stories to share. He does seem to be quite determined to spend the rest of his days as a bachelor however... it probably has it's appeal.
In other news... I haven't heard from mr. Blackwald in a week or so. I do hope everything is alright. He must be busy trying to sort things out with his ladyfriend, Ravanie. I do hope that my foolishness didn't cause them any... long-term problems.
Yesterday's Service was a brilliant one, I thought I should mention. Young lady Datherine Delevare gave a very good, thoughtful speech on starting over. I dare say she touched my heart with her words... and I suspect many others as well. She's well on her way to become a very valuable member of our church. A bit shy, but I know how that is all too well... She's quite promising indeed. And... I can tell that father Devons is taking an interest in her... well-being... as well. If that's all he's taking an interest in...
