Nobles, Magisters, Blademasters~ Oh my!

  • January 30, 2012 1:51:41 PM EST

I did this before on our old forum, but I figured it would be a helpful guild for rpers who are new to the server and don’t know these things.  Especially since we have an influx of new rpers, Yay!  But seriously, people put claim to fame and others have no idea what the duck.  So this is only meant to help.

I will also say this: This list is only to state for YOUR character and is in no way form or fashion a means to exert power over another player or game lore.

It’s simple, if your character is noble(any level)/magister/ranking member of (racial) people, fill it out.  Now these will be positions players/npcs/people would be KNOW.  So no making crap up.  No Queens of Blades, Kings of Lions, or Rubber Duck of the World’s Cup.  I’m talking official that may or may not do anything.  Like Remia (b/c even though I don’t know her, I know of her) is a magistrate of Stormwind that helps settle judicial disputes pertaining to Stormwind.  That said, unless you’re neutral (and sometimes especially when you are), if you have power on one side, you SHOULD NOT have power on an opposing faction.  Stick to what is.  For those outside the realm of human kingdoms, there are resources out there.  For belf players like myself, here.  Elves and other races aren’t human, and do not follow all their fancy titles.  This is a guideline, not a rulebook.  Means follow it if you’d like, but you do not have to.

    Layout:

Family Name (if applicable) and Individual Name:

    Status (Noble/Magister/etc):

    That’s it.

Family Name (if applicable) and Individual Name: House of Blacksun -> Dhel’renth Blacksun

Status (Noble/Magister/etc): Lord of House, Midtier Noble in Quel'Thalas Heirarchy

Faction/Race: Focus is on Quel'Thalas/Blood Elven (not high elven) lands rather than the Horde overall.

Role : The House of Blacksun has always been at the ruling power’s beck and call. They are the nobles that are charged with some of the more “shady” and darker dealings of the ruling powers. Dhel’renth himself has been charged with duty of assassinations, subversion, and spying. On the surface though, they seem no different from everyday elven noble high bred. Dhel’renth has been known to help in the research to keep the barrier around Quel’Thalas strong and not repeat the failing of it like with the Scourge.

Family Name (if applicable) and Individual Name: House of Sunflare -> Sanastrian Sunflare

Family Name Meaning: He who fights with the sun's intensity.

Role: As a whole before the Scourge Invasion House Sunflare served as military, political, and magical research specialists. Primary figures of House Sunflare would vary between skill-set. (Father of Sanastrian serving as Magister and member of the Convocation of Silvermoon, Elder Brother of Sanastrian– Former Heir – Serving as a Spell-Breaker Captain, Sanastrian himself serving as Blood Mage and Magister of Silvermoon). Sanastrian currently serves Silvermoon under Grand Magister Rommath having returned from acting as a defender of the current Sunwell as well as a researcher in aiding its progression into a more powerful source of magic.

((Let me know if anything written isn't to the proper description desired. I've attempted to follow the format, hopefully it all is legit; Also added something I thought might be cool - House Name meaning :D))

Family Name (if applicable) and Individual Name: House of Riley -> Wenna Mackenzie

    Status (Noble/Magister/etc): Baroness

Faction/Race: Gilneas (Alliance), Human (Worgen). Primarily focused on the Gilnean people, less so others.

Role : Staunch supporters of Greymane all, the house of Riley had a crisis of backing when the Wall was proposed. They argued that isolationism would only create problems in the long run, and were vindicated (and decimated) when they were proven right years later. Before the Cataclysm, the Riley lands were some of the most fertile in Gilneas, growing the lion's share of food for the small country through ancestral skills and the powerful aid of the Harvest Witches.

All of her lands have since sunken into the sea with the coming of Deathwing, as have a large portion of the people living there. Until only recently, she has been an envoy of Gilneas as a reward for her family's efforts, meeting a number of influential people on both sides of the faction split in order to soothe tensions.

More recently her noble duties have fallen to the side as she works with the homeless children of Stormwind, attempts to train a new generation of Harvest Witches, and spends time with her loving wife.

Issaela:  Born Issaela da Gamba di Anar, now named Issaela di Emberdawn.

Family Name (if applicable) and Individual Name: House di Anar, with cadet branches, so "da Gamba di Anar" would be the Gamba branch of the Anar bloodline.  The literal meaning of Anar is "Sun" and Gamba is "Legs," so "Legs of the Sun."  But the connotation is of the shafts of light that break through clouds to shine with great intensity on parts of the ground.  The "di" connotes nobility, so when Issaela married she took her husband's more plebian name but kept the "di."

Status (Noble/Magister/etc):  Archmage of Silvermoon, and a noblewoman.

Faction/Race:  Horde Elf.  She doesn't consider herself a Sin'dorei, as she broke with those politics around the time Silvermoon joined the Horde.

Role :  Social.  The da Gambas are in the "useless aristocrat" category, albeit on first name basis with rulers.  Until the Shattering they had good vineyards and a substantial Estate in Eversong.  They could affect politics, but kept it very subtle over Tea gatherings.

These days the da Gambas are gone, scattered, missing, or dead.  The Estate is in ruins.  Issaela remains, but isn't with the "in" crowd any more, having occasioned gossip and horror at her adoption of Orcish values when she joined an Orc-based Clan.  You wouldn't look to her for influence in Silvermoon affairs.  But she still excels at wedding planning, social graces, and light bantering conversation.  She also designs jewelery and does crystal enchants -- but she would never be in Trade.  How vulgar.  She is far more a Horde Elf of the Tears of Draenor than a Silvermoon socialite, however.

The di Anars as a whole remain, being far too numerous to have been eradicated by the Cataclysm.  In general they are Old Money, and certainly various individuals of the family will be more involved in politics or even be useful members of society.

Status (Noble/Magister/etc): Lady, Cleric of Eonar, matchmaker, alchemist, medic

    Faction/Race: Horde/Blood Elf

Role : Sometimes teasingly known as her alter ego "Lellenthyr Lovehammer the Lovebringer" as depicted in Liliania's novels, Lellenthyr's most known hobby is as a matchmaker. Her more useful skills include serving many years as a battle-cleric of Eonar, and she is a skilled alchemist. Because of her husband she also has considerable knowledge on dealing and combating demons and nether denizens. She is very interested in researching the Titans, and obtaining thier artifacts, often trying to attempt to combine Science with the Divine.
