Upon the 25th of January, Kelsus Hadson is now officially been declared as a Magistrate of the Kingdom of Stormwind through the Magistrate Exam that. This exam created by the combined efforts of Magistrate Sirithil Nightstone, Kalren Geroux, Remia Blyde, and former Magistrate U’Juminor (Datina) The exam was administrated by Kalren Geroux in December.
Crowner Ethne Woodward has officially given the approval to Kelsus Hadson to become Magistrate of the Kingdom of Stormwind after a 7 months month waiting period. And henceforth Kelsus Hadson is appointed deemed fit and ready to complete the duties of a Magistrate of the Kingdom of Stormwind in the name of his Royal Majesty, King Varian Wyrnn.
Kelsus Hadson has request to use his office at City Hall for his duties has been accepted along with the continued use of the Petitioners Chamber in the Keep as a Courtroom for future trials in the name of the Kingdom.
Under this document is a personal address to all citizens of Stormwind and the Alliance.
I am honored to be appointed to be your Magistrate and I assure you, justice will be served in the Court of law in the Kingdom and the Grand Alliance. I shall upheld my duties in the name of his Royal Majesty, King Varian Wyrnn and be a servant to the people.
Now I understand that for too long the justice and the Courts of law has been largely neglected and forgotten in the Kingdom of Stormwind, but make no mistake. I shall advocate for the revival of law and order in the name of justice and peace.
Magistrates are supposed to serve the people and ensure that the law is abided by all citizens of the Grand Alliance and the Kingdom of Stormwind. I plan to continue that long tradition and ensure that our Majesty’s law is firmly enforced and that peace and order is established.
We are in troubling times and we are in a period of uncertainty and instability. I shall do whatever in my power to establish professionalism in his Majesty’s Guardsman, to ensure that criminals and villains be dealt with the court of law, and to help in rebuilding our society and kingdom.
If ever an issue or dispute rises in the realm of his Royal Majesty, I employ you to send me a letter or a notification.
To allow me to commit to the procedures and that we conduct a proper investigation and cooperation to ensure peace and prosperity.
This is a new era and I am proud to be part of it, I am proud to serve you, and I am proud to be alongside with you in the years to come.
From Archmage Kelsus Hadson
Magistrate of the Kingdom of Stormwind
(( I'm always welcoming to more folks entering the dangerous realm of legal RP, as that means less work to do. But as far as I OOCly know, this is not true at the moment. Kelsus is not a magistrate. This proclamation has been issued prematurely. No decision has officially been made yet on his status. In other words, this statement is wrong based on what I know OOCly. Also based on the extent of my OOC knowledge, Ethne does not have the power to appoint Kelsus to become a magistrate. I do not believe passing the exam automatically registers one as a magistrate without the approval of Kalren, Sirithil, and Remia. ))
So at this time, as far as I OOCly know, Kelsus is not a magistrate ICly. This IC proclamation is incorrect and wrong at this time, likely due to incorrect knowledge given to the character. It should be interesting to RP out this incident with Kelsus ICly though! I wanted to OOCly clarify this message. At this time, Kalren is ICly not considering Kelsus a magistrate, and I don't OOCly consider him one either.
Kelsus and I talked about this last night, and we're planning to develop this RP properly in the coming days. I don't know if we're going to consider the issue of this message an IC mistake on Kelsus's part, write it off as "administrative error," or retcon it. But as of last night, Kelsus and I OOCly agreed that his character wasn't a magistrate at this time. There are still procedural steps to go through which have yet to be fulfilled, such as nominating him toward a legal specialty such as arcane, theological, or civil / criminal, putting it up to vote with the three current magistrates (Remia, Sirithil, and Kalren), of whom none have accepted or rejected him, and going through paperwork. Kelsus's IC application is still hanging in the air. In short, I do not OOCly consider Kelsus a magistrate at this time.
Also, for those OOCly concerned about two magistrates from the same guild, Kalren would only remain in the same guild if they had different specialties / jurisdictions. If Kelsus became a magistrate and was chosen to specialize in civil / criminal court, I will remove Kalren from the guild immediately and IC departure will follow shortly thereafter.
I don't expect to ever see two blood relatives, IRL or IC, as magistrates either. In my seven years on ER, I have yet to see it happen. It's common for support staff like clerks and investigators to be relatives, but I don't expect to see magistrates who are relatives. Ever. And as far as I OOCly know, Kelsus isn't related ICly or OOCly to anyone involved with the magistrates.
If anyone has any further questions, you can contact me and I'll clarify. Hope this helps sort out any IC / OOC confusion! ))
(( As pointed out in the discussion, I am going to work out and talk to Kalren with the Magistrate issue but again, I am rather in a difficult position because there appears to be a lack of communication and understanding on the Magistrate application.
As this is completely these recent developments in Kalren's response is new to me and most of these recent issues were not told to me beforehand. Along with the fact that I am taking a new and strange route to become part of lawful roleplay and it is my understanding to take this route will be full of delays and potential backlashes.
I will work and try to move along in this application and roleplay, but to note to the community and other magistrates. I have been waiting for nearly 7 months and have received continued delays in this both in-character and out of character. And it has moved towards some disturbing responses from many people and I feel that some of this has gone way into out of character due to an in-character announcement. I am a bit shocked at this behavior.
At this time, I will keep things private and ensure that roleplay is taken in its course and that in-character and out of character is stay where they should be in this case but I cannot gurantee where this is leading to due to the difficuilt arrangements I've been put up to and forced to comlply. For 7 months, I've been forced to put Kelsus roleplay in hold due to the unactivity of the current magistrates and now that I have proclaimed myself, everything has suddenly rebounded to me which has caused this large gap and is going to hurt both parties.
But I am determined to continue on with Kelsus roleplay as Magistrate and I will respect and understand Kalren's departure from the Court. However this being all new issues, I cannot give a proper and rational response to the announcement of the new rule of "Two magistrates in one guild" especially that this wasn't being announced and conducted nearly 7 months ago and suddenly is a problem last night.
I've wanted to point out that in the first month of my application, Datina had resigned as Magistrate and opened a seat, and about 3 months ago. Remia has been having some troubles with activity, as for Sirithil. I have not spoken with him in this regards since we began the Magistrate application process. I understand that being a Magistrate is a stressful and demanding position both in-character and out of character and I've made it qutie clear that I am up for the task.
But I am not understanding these delays and continued problems of sudden issues and concerns when they should've been resolved months ago and long before the approval of Kelsus Hadson.
It is very frustrating to see the continued pattern of delays and avoidance and the lack of communication and it causes an unnecessary burden to all parties with these delays. And I feel that this is going to get worst unless we resolved this quickly, as for other parties such as people who are outside of this issue. I am unsure why this interests you but take in mind that this has been going on for 7th months and I've made a post 2 months ago about this...))
(( After a lengthy discussion and several private messeges, Kalren and I have agreed to postpone the appointment of Kelsus to be a Magistrate and come to a comproise. Kelsus will be in charge of all of the magical affairs in the law of the Alliance as a Magistrate and that he will act as a substitute for the Magistrates in charge of other affairs and authority in roleplay however it is was agreed that Kelsus cannot overpower and takeover other Magistrates positions. We will go into deep discussion and further private messeges over the issues and my concerns of unactive or neglectful Magistrates. And I hope to solve and reform the system if possible.
I hope that we can move from this sudden burst of Out of Character delays and postponement and quickly move into the already late and dragged In-character roleplay of this.
And I do offer my apology to Kalren for making a misunderstanding over the entire system of becoming a Magistrate under a Peer evaulations and examinations. But if things suddenly appear, it will create strong misunderstandings and will be a tool used by others to create distrust and potential abuses. I advice and encourage for future exams and applications of being a Magistrate to be conducted with better communicaiton, and ahead of time requirements and warnings of delays.
I understand that being a Magistrates requires lots of patience and time, and again I am willing go through this. I am taking this as casually as possible and I'm not trying to pressure anyone to do something they don't want to do, but understand that this has been in limbo for many months and the sight of it coming to a conclusion is nowhere in sight. We are technically at the same area as we've been 5 months ago back in September besides with Kelsus passing the Exam that was promised to him back in mid August.
It is not my intention to grab power or cause unnesecary dillemas to the community but this must be addressed and if remains deadlock, it will spill months of roleplay and really lead to a questionable concern over the entire system that we are trying to accomplish.
I personally would like to see a swift and conducted appointment and I will hold dearly onto Kalren's promises that this will be done in an orderly and organized fashion in order to establish boundaries and authority. In the future for people interested to become Magistrates, I will be also be in great depth to reform and build up the enviorment and new frontier of Law roleplay.
Again I emphasis that this has been on hold for nearly 7 months and that alot of patience has been strained and has been point to the greatest test of any Roleplayer to see a plot unfold. Patience is a Virtue and but time is of the essence.
As for being a Dalaran or Kirin Tor Magistrate is impossible for Kelsus due to the fact that Kelsus is extremely Pro-Alliance and that the Kirin Tor has no jurisdiction in the Alliance. As to note, Kelsus considers himself a bit distant with the Kirin Tor due to the Nexus War wher ehe left and joined the Kingdom of Stormwind and along to the point that the Conjurers Court is a Alliance Magical Order which really plants his feet and his position as purely in the Alliance. ))
Well, back to this forum once more.
After 2 months of waiting and information about the Magistrate Roleplay. Nothing has sadly come about, and I fear that given to the nature on the chaotic timing when Summer comes, I believe that I will simply have Kelsus be appointed by NPC's.
Communication is missing and there seems to be no viable option of continuing the delays and prolongments of the Appointment with the current Magistrates a they come on and off and have not contacted or communicated with me.
As noted in the original post. The appointment has been concluded and Kelsus Hadson is offically a Magistrate of the Alliance. I understand that some characters or players rather will not accept Kelsus, I understand, respect it, and hope that things will simply move on.
On that note, I hope to create more roleplay on the server, and get back into the long neglected and missing "Court RP's". I'll be looking forward into hosting and making roleplay for the community as a Magistrate.

The Guard will support this move, Kelsus. You've had to have been waiting for the better part of a -year-. We're behind you. I did find that comment on 'Establishing Proffesionalism of his Majesty's Guardsmen' a bit offencive, though. Like we weren't -already- professional. :P

No offense intented! It just means that...the Guard could use some help! :)
Also, expect warrents for Kennyk and Ralone soon. 8D
